We areProducer since 1949

Above all, we are a winemaking family with rare passion for what we do. We are the proud carriers of a deeply rooted wine-making tradition that has started with small steps back in 1949, and today is in its third generation, already expanded remarkably since then.

Our story and our creations are inexorably linked to the very place where we are rooted and where it all began: the enchanting, history-rich mountainous areas of Corinth in Peloponnese, Greece.

01The Legend

This is a place brimming with exciting myths and legends that go back millennia. This is the legendary birthplace of the Pleiades, as well as the Greek god Hermes who was believed to be born in a cave on a local mountaintop, not far from our own vineyards.

02Our Reference in Tradition

It is no coincidence that Delphi, Olympia and Epidaurus, three of the most sacred locations of Ancient Greece, if linked on the map create the shape of an equilateral triangle. At the center of this triangle stands the area of Trikala – a name that loosely stands for ‘three virtues’.

Apart from Ancient Greeks, the spirituality of this land has attracted Christian monks in the past and, more recently, modern day Buddhists who erected a total of 9 impressive stuppas in the area.

If one of the three most important places of worship in ancient times are connected: Delphi, Epidaurus and Olympia, an equilateral triangle is formed in the middle of which are the ``three (Greek Word: Tria) good`` or otherwise the wider location of Trikala. Takis Mixopoulos | Poet

1890
First GenerationWinemaking is a long family tradition which starts with George Kissas at the end of the 19th century with the very first small batches of wine produced at Diminio Corinth, the same place we are today.
1949
Second GenerationDimitrios Kissas son of George continued by founding the current company and constructing the winery at 1949, making wine out of the indigenous varieties Roditis and Savvatiano. The winery was one of the first wineries in the region of Corinth with the old cement tanks still standing.
1972
Third GenerationAt 1972 the company changed to its current name: D. Kissas & Sons Winery when the son of Dimitrios Kissas, George Kissas is added to the company after completing his studies as Chemist – Enologist. During the following decades the winery grew, reaching 1.5 million liters capacity, while a second winery was built at the region of Thiva. By always applying cutting edge winemaking techniques and the highest quality standards, the biggest wineries in Greece became the company’s clientele.
Today
Fourth GenerationWith the aim to better control the incoming grapes, George Kissas started investing into developing his own vineyards. Started from the region of Diminio with the indigenous varieties Roditis and Savvatiano and later at 2008, after many years of research and fascinated by the terroir of the mountains of Corinth, he decided to establish his main vineyards at the region of Kallithea, on the slopes of the Black mountain, part of Ziria mountain, at an elevation reaching 900m. There, he bought 16 ha in which he farms Malagousia, Moschofilero, Assyrtiko, Muscat Blanc, and Pinot Noir. At the same time the next generation, Dimitrios Kissas, Chemical Engineer – Enologist, after his studies at UC Davis in California and winemaking experience in USA, Australia and Greece is added to the company taking over the wine production.

The Vineyards

The land itself is our vital ally in the efforts. Our vineyards benefit from the unique terroir of the local mountain slopes of the Black Mountain of Ziria at an altitude of up to 900 meters, and a gentle breeze coming from the Corinthian gulf.
